Poplar Bend (Mile 27.5)

  • 8 Guests

Poplar Bend is a one-group campsite just downstream from the confluence with the Davidson River in Transylvania County. Flat and grassy, but partially-shaded by lots of trees along the perimeter and a few within the meadow, this campsite has a simple river access, picnic table, fire ring, and elevated composting toilet. There is plenty of flat space for tent camping and several trees nicely-suitable for hammocks. Everything you need for a relaxed night on the Paddle Trail.

The access into the campsite itself is less than one mile downstream of Pisgah Forest River Access and the confluence with the Davidson River. It comes up quickly as you round a left-turning bend, so be on the lookout for the sign and steps. There's a narrow but long-ish eddy for taking-out, and the river is also fairly shallow there as it flows over a cobble bar. If you pass under Everett Road, you've gone too far.

Note that this campsite is on private land. Please respect the landowner's property and stay within the campsite area. Do not leave the campsite area, and do not try to drive to the campsite.
